Goddess Tara
is one of the ten Dasa Mahavidhyas. The 10 Mahavidyas are Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari (Shodashi), Bhuvaneshvari, Tripura Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamala.
Tara Jayanti is going to be celebrated on Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra i.e., April 16, 2024.

Who is Goddess Tara?
As per Hindu Scriptures, once Lord Shiva drank the poison that emerged from the ocean during the churning of the milky sea in order to prevent the end of the world. However, Lord Shiva was rendered comatose by the poison’s potent effects. In order to neutralise the effects of the poison, Goddess Durga manifested as Tara at this point and breastfed Shiva while sitting on her lap. Tara’s maternal qualities are supposed to make her more approachable to her devotees.
