Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church

Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Harris St., Newburyport, led by the Rev. Costin Popescu, offers Orthros matins at 9 a.m. on Sunday with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in person and through livestreaming.

Morning weekday services are usually Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30. A virtual Bible study begins Thursday at noon. This interdenominational group discusses readings in the Common Lectionary.

On Friday, April 5, Salutations to the Theotokos is at 7 p.m. Canon of St. Andrew takes place Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. Presanctified Liturgy is Wednesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. Bible study takes place Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. as Acts will be studied.

On Palm Sunday – April 28, the Greek Ladies Aid Society hosts the annual luncheon following Divine Liturgy. The St. Basil’s Kitchen community lunch program offers takeout and indoor dining on Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Central Congregational

Central Congregational Church, 14 Titcomb St., Newburyport, led by the Rev. Christopher Ney, offers a worship service Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Congregation Ahavas Achim

Congregation Ahavas Achim, 53½ Washington St., Newburyport, led by Rabbi Alex Matthews, offers weekly Shabbat services each Saturday at 9 a.m. in person and on Zoom.

A food drive for The Pettengill House food pantry will be held Saturday, April 6; Sunday, April 7; Saturday, April 13; and Sunday, April 14. A collection bin will be at the main door during the day. Nonperishable, unopened food will be collected: canned soup, spaghetti sauce, pasta, baking mixes, baked beans, rice mixes, snacks, coffee and nutritional drinks (Boost and Ensure). Personal care items will also be accepted.

Union Congregational

Union Congregational Church, 350 Main St., Point Shore, Amesbury, offers in-person and online worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Chase.

Communion is on the first Sunday of the month. On Saturday, April 20, the church hosts a paper-shredding fundraiser in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon. Shred Source will shred documents and other paper on-site. The suggested donation is $7 per banker’s box or carton. Nonperishable food will be collected for Our Neighbors’ Table. St. Paul’s Episcopal

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 166 High St., Newburyport, offers a Sunday service of Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m.

The midweek Eucharist is Tuesday at noon. Morning prayer is Tuesday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. A service of Holy Eucharist is offered on the first Saturday of each month in St. Anna’s Chapel at 4:30 p.m. It is a contemplative, simple and contemporary Eucharist.

Hope Community Church, 11 Hale St., Newburyport, holds a worship service Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Belleville Congregational

Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High St., Newburyport, led by the Rev. Ross Varney, offers Sunday worship in the chapel at 10 a.m.

First Parish Church

Food and toiletry donations are accepted Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Needed are toilet paper, paper towels, diapers of all sizes, Knorr and Uncle Ben’s rice, mayonnaise, canned goods, canned tuna, pasta side dishes, peanut butter, cereal, cake and muffin mixes, pie crust mix and pie filling.

The church’s clothing shed is in the back parking lot for anyone wishing to donate clothing.

Byfield Parish Church

Byfield Parish Church, 132 Jackman St., Georgetown, led by the Rev. Brent Fugate, offers a worship service Sunday at 10:45 a.m.

First Church of Christ, Scientist

First Church of Christ, Scientist, One Merrimac St., #4, Newburyport, offers in-person Sunday services from 10 to 11 a.m. and testimony meetings on Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On April 7, the sermon will be “Unreality”. Sermons consist of texts from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible and “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.

People’s United

The Angel Gabriel Quilters meet Tuesdays at 11 a.m. for quilting and knitting. The Drum Circle meets on the third Friday of each month at 7 p.m. in Hartson Hall. Experience not necessary.

The People’s Cafe at Hartson Hall hosts jazz from 1 to 3 p.m. each Saturday and bluegrass from 3 to 5 p.m. Participate or just listen. Donations accepted. On-street parking only. The Drum Circle meets on the third Friday of each month at 7 p.m. in Hartson Hall. No experience necessary.

Open Mike Night, hosted by Imagine Studios, is held the first Friday of each month at Hartson Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. for musicians, singers, poets and storytellers. Seventh-day Adventist Church, 171 Main St, Amesbury, offers two Sabbath meetings on Saturday.

Bible study for adults at the church begins at 9:30 a.m. with studying the topic of Christian mission. No prior study necessary.

Worship is offered in person at 11 a.m. and can also be seen through livestreaming or later on YouTube. The service includes prayer, praise, scripture and preaching. The children’s program, “Come Join the Treasure Hunt,” begins at 10 a.m. and features crafts, games, surprises, singing and stories.

Trinity United
