Ekadashi in May 2024: Significance

Ekadashi holds a great religious and spiritual significance in Hindu religion. This day is observed to honour Lord Vishnu and devotees observe strict fast on this auspicious day to please Lord Vishnu and seek the blessings by performing various puja rituals and feeding poor people. Ekadashi falls twice in a month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha and each Ekadashi has its specific meaning and story.
Ekadashi fast is considered as one of the most sacred fast in Hindu religion and it is also believed that devotees who take a sankalp of observing Ekadashi fast, get protection from Lord Vishnu and Lord Vishnu bestow them with happiness, prosperity, wealth and all the worldly pleasures. This fast is so powerful that people even get salvation or Moksha after death and they also get rid of the cycle of birth and death. Lord Vishnu even give them place in Baikunth Dham.
Ekadashi in May 2024: Rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
2. Clean the house and especially puja room.
3. Give bath to the idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna and Laddoo Gopal Ji.
4. Adorn them with clothes. Tilak and garland.
5. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna and Laddoo Gopal Ji along with Shree Yantra.
6. Light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idols and take a sankalp of observing Ekadashi fast with full devotion.
7. Chant “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaye” Mantra 108 times and recite Vishnu Sahasranaama.
8. Offer Panchamrit and Tuls Dal to the Lord and seek blessings.
9. In the evening also, one must offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and perform aarti.
10. Those who are unable to bear hunger, the can eat fruits and milk products in the evening and finally they must break their fast next day on Dwadashi Tithi during Parana Time.
