World Labyrinth Day: The Greater Los Angeles Labyrinth Network has a list of labyrinths to walk on the 16th annual World Labyrinth Day (observed on the first Saturday in May). Some participants plan to attend a walk at 1 p.m. (local time) on May 4 to “create a rolling wave of peaceful energy” (www.worldlabyrinthday.org). Holocaust Museum LA’s Community-wide Yom HaShoah Commemoration: The event includes speakers, music and prayers, 11 a.m. This year’s gathering commemorates the 80th anniversary of the deportation of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz. Scheduled speakers include: Mary Bauer, a Shoah survivor; Henry Slucki, a Shoah survivor, leads “The Partisan Song”; a recitation of the mourner’s Kaddish and the El Malei Rachamim prayer by Ron Galperin; Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass; Rabbi Steve Leder, from Wilshire Boulevard Temple; Los Angeles City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky (see the program on the website). Cars We Love to D.R.I.V.E. Car Show – Calvary Community Church: Registration is open now for the second annual car show at the church. No fee to register your car. Donations are encouraged by car show participants and attendees, however, to make a donation to the church’s “Gift-a-Lift” program that provides cars for young adults coming out of the foster care system (see details on the website).
