Thrift shop

Springfield – The thrift shop at St. Gregory Armenian Church, 135 Goodwin St., in the Indian Orchard section, is open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, go online to saintgregoryarmenianchurch.org.

Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open on Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with items for sale at bargain prices.

Rummage Sale

Holyoke – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St., will hold their annual “Rummage Sale” on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium. Featuring clothing, housewares, bedding, towels, books, toys and holiday and craft supplies. Free ample parking is located behind the church and all are welcome.

Church concert

Monson – Michael Gilman will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms the “Three B’s” on Sunday, April 21 at 10 a.m. at Monson Unitarian Church, located on Main Street right across from the Monson Town Hall. Refreshments will be served after the performance in the parish hall. The concert is free, and all are welcome. For more information call Malita at 413-596-9075.

Passover with LYA

Longmeadow – Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy, 1148 Converse St. is preparing a Seder-To-Stay and a Seder-To-Go. LYA is offering in-person Seder-To-Stay on Monday, April 22, which will begin with a pre-seder buffet of fish, salads and soup at 6:45 p.m. Following the food, there will be interactive Passover activities, stories, and songs, led by Rabbi Noach and Esther Kosofsky. This will lead into the start of the seder and kiddush, drinking the first cup of wine. The seder will be conducted at a slightly faster pace. A seder dinner will be served after the reading of the hagadah. Participants are welcome to attend the seder at LYA for as long as they wish.

The second seder night, Tuesday, April 23, will follow a more traditional format and will begin at 8:30 p.m., and end around 11 p.m. It will be led by Rabbi Chaim and Rochel Leah Kosofsky. The cost for a Seder-To-Stay is $18 an adult, $8 a child and $45 a family.

LYA is also preparing a Seder-To-Go with pick-up on Monday, April 22, between 1 and 2 p.m. Each Seder-To-Go includes: seder plate and foods, laminated seder cards and kiddush cups. The seder meal will include gefilte fish/salad, chicken soup, chicken, potato kugel, roasted vegetables, and dessert. Cost for the Seder-To-Go is $32 a person ($75 value) and you can order a bottle of Joyvin red for an additional $10. Reserve for your Seder-To-Stay or Seder-To-Go by Thursday, April 18. Documentary film showing

Northampton – Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence’s Racial Justice Team is sponsoring a new one-hour documentary film, “The Cost of Inheritance,” on Friday, April 25, 6:30 p.m., at Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, 220 Main St. This film is about reparations for historic and current harms done to African Americans, followed by a question and answer with 3 members of Northampton Reparations Committee. Pro-Life Breakfast

Holyoke – Pro-Life of Pioneer Valley will hold their 2024 Pro-Life breakfast on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at Wyckoff Country Club, 233 Easthampton Road. Tickets are $30 per person. Send checks to George Wilson, 279 Morgan St., South Hadley, MA, 01075. Your tickets will be held at the door. Attendees are encouraged to bring donation items to support Bethlehem House.

Easter season mission

Holyoke – On Sunday, April 28 and Monday, April 29, Our Lady of the Cross Parish will be having an Easter Season Mission entitled “Igniting the Light of Christ Within You.” The Mission begins at 6:30 p.m. on both evenings and will be given by Paul Koleske. Paul is a contemporary Catholic inspirational speaker, composer and recording artist from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Paul has shared his ministry in all 50 states and has appeared on EWTN. All are welcome and the Mission is free. The church is located at 1140 Dwight St.

Taize music

Monson – Under the direction of Kiel Krommer, Director of Music Ministry, First Church of Monson will hold a service of Taize Music on Sunday, April 28 at 7 p.m. This ecumenical service of music and meditation is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the service. The church is located at 5 High St.

Catholic Women’s Club Banquet

Agawam – The annual banquet of the Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam will take place at Casa Di Lisa, 801 Springfield St., in the Feeding Hills section on Tuesday, May 14. The evening will begin with appetizers from 6 to 6:45 p.m., consisting of bruschetta, fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers. At 7 p.m., the buffet of grilled park chops with applesauce, chicken francese, baked cod, vegetables, roasted potatoes, green beans almondine, salad and bread will be served. Coffee, tea, and soda will be served, and dessert will be mini cannoli’s and petit fours. A cash bar will be available. Cost is $35 and includes tax and tip. Checks made out to CWC or cash must be sent to Katie Heald, chairperson of the event, at 66 Beekman Drive, Agawam, MA 01001 or left in her mailbox by May 6. No refunds after this date as the count is due May 7. Write with whom you wish to sit. There is one table of 8 ladies available and the rest are tables of 6. Any larger tables will be placed close to each other. For questions, or more information call Katie at 413-786-1287. The club’s monthly and annual meetings will follow the dinner. Any Catholic Woman residing in Agawam/Feeding Hills or member of either of the towns Catholic Parishes are welcome to attend this even.

Church events

Springfield – South Congregational Church, an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in downtown Springfield, invites everyone to its regular worship services, Sundays at 10 a.m. in person at 45 Maple Street in Springfield or on Zoom. You will experience their warm welcome, fine music program, and engaging coffee hour immediately following worship. Childcare is also available. Join the Bible Study group on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on Zoom (use the Zoom worship link) — whether you are new to bible study or have a lifetime of experience, you are welcome. Other programs include regular knitting and quilting circles as well as an upcoming Lenten Book Group. In addition to church services and events, South is particularly engaged in the downtown community, and many public programs are offered in their spaces. Bus trip

Springfield – St. Catherine of Siena, 1023 Parker St., presents a bus trip to see the Woosox play Rochester on Sunday, June 9 at 1:05 p.m. The bus leaves the church’s parking lot at 11 a.m. Reserved covered seating behind third base. Cost includes bus/driver’s gratuity, $2 credit on food.

The church presents a trip to Bushnell Theater to see “Funny Girl,” on Sunday, June 23, 1 p.m. The bus leaves the church’s parking lot at 11:30 a.m. Show, bus and all gratuities including family style dinner at Sorella’s included with price. Sunday services

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., invites the community to Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday of every month communion is served with bread and grape juice or with individually packaged wafer and grape juice. Following all Sunday services, there is a Friendship gathering in the church hall. Coffee, tea, and water are served along with various goodies and packaged treats. Juice is, also, available, especially, for children in attendance. Children can, also, visit the “Mural Room” where many animals are painted floor to ceiling on an entire wall. The church is handicapped accessible with a large parking lot. If anyone may need a ride or assistance, contact the church at 413-786-7111 or email office@agawamcong.com.

Additional adoration times

Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. will offer weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays between noon and 5:30 p.m. The Holy Mass takes place at 6 p.m. Lawn signs are available for Agawam residents announcing the Year of the Eucharist. Contact the parish office to obtain one, 413-786-8105, ext. 101.

Free weekly Veterans lunch

Holyoke – Community Roots Neighborhood Services offers a free hot lunch for Veterans and their adult immediate family (Parents or spouse). The lunches are every Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Questions? Email Gina Nelson at crnsholyoke@gmail.com.
