Fleetwood church schedules Elvis gospel concert [Religion Digest]

• St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood, will present a concert by Jeff Krick featuring the gospel and country songs of Elvis Presley on April 28 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door for adults, and $5 for children 5 to 12 are $5. Tickets can be ordered by calling 610-657-8727 or 610-944-9820.

• The 40-member Reading Symphony Jr. Strings Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Mishler, will provide music at the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township. The RSJSO is a developmental ensemble for advanced fourth- through eighth-grade string students of Berks County and surrounding areas, serving as a training ground for the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra (RSYO) and rehearses weekly at Reformation.

• Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 57 N. Church St., Mohnton, will celebrate its spring Rally Day during its 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday. The Wyomissing Band, directed by Jennifer Redcay, will present the message.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will have Coffee and Conversation in the Welcome Center at 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

• “You Are Not Alone: Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” will be held today at Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave., Reading, from 1-5 p.m.

• United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., will offer Bible study on Tuesday at 9 a.m. by Zoom and on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in person and by Zoom if needed. Soup ‘n’ Such community meal will be served on Thursday from 4-6 p.m., with the Children’s Closet being held at the same time. Next Saturday, the church will hold a “Stay Near Home Mission Work Day” from 1-5 p.m. with a meal and worship at 5.

• Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Road, Richmond Township, will host the Pomona Grange on Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The 1770 Tannenberg organ will be played during the service.

• Immanuel United Church of Christ, 99 S. Waverly St., Shillington, is celebrating 150 years of ministry in 2024.  As part of that celebration, the church is honoring its Interfaith Connections & Community Partners.  On Sunday, Immanuel welcomes faith leaders from the Islamic Center of Reading and the Jewish Federation of Reading/Berks for worship at 9 a.m. and Adult Forum at 10:15 in the lower level multipurpose room.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will hold a free drive-through take-out meal today from 4:30-5:30 p.m. No registration necessary.

• St. John’s Gernant’s Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant’s Church Road, Ontelanuee Township, will worship on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. There will be a special collection on Jingle Sunday of loose coins for its mission program. There will be Designer Bags/Gift Basket Bingo at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25. Ticket price includes a hot dog and drink. Bible study will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

• Salem Lutheran Church, 8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel, will welcome the Rev. Robert Kramer as guest pastor he leads the worship service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

• The Arts at Calvary at Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave., Reading, welcomes the Steve Katzenmoyer Trio, performing songs in celebration of Earth Day, on Sunday at 3 p.m.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4125 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, will be holding a free community meal on Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Men of St John’s are leading a men’s breakfast the second and fourth Thursdays at the Red Plate, call 610-678-1088 to RSVP.

• Friedens United Church of Christ, 337 Main St., Oley, will have the Rev. Melinda Angstadt as the guest celebrant at the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday. Guest musicians will be Ken Gehret, guitar and banjo, and Teri Hoffman, piano. The Oley Valley Alumni and Community Band will present a free concert today at 3 p.m. in Weidner Hall.

• People with special needs/IDD, their friends and family are invited to Bern Lutheran Church, 820 W. Leesport Road, Bern Township, on Tuesday for the Berks Festival of Faith free supper and worship service. This month’s supper will be prepared and served by members of Zion’s Union Church, Maxatawny Township. Supper is served from 4:30-5:30 p.m.. Worship begins at 5:45.

• Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, will host its monthly flea market and clothing sale today from 8-11 a.m. There  will be a free clothing giveaway next Saturday from 9-11 a.m. A pizza and bingo party will take place after worship on April 28. Prizes will be given out to the bingo winners.

• St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 2901 Curtis Road, Spring Township, will host Breakfast with a Purpose on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the church social room. Eggs, pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, fruit, bagels, juice and coffee will be served. There is no cost to attend. A free-will offering will provide financial assistance to a family in our community.

• Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 170 Tuckerton Road, Muhlenberg Township, will be holding a free community drive-thru meal of chili and cornbread and also a dessert today from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. During the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, the choir will sing a special song called “Let Your Light Shine” in memory of Bob Kershner.

In order to have an event listed in the religion digest, it must be something that is not just a regular worship service.
