One flock, one shepherd

Differences abound! At First Presbyterian Church of DeLand this Sunday, April 21, Pastor Michael Bodger will address this issue. We know that differences do abound, some obvious ones like our physical appearance and others that evolve from our opinions as well as other factors. Hopefully, we all agree on the One Shepherd; yet Jesus also says, “One Flock”!

Pastor Bodger will challenge us to realize that spiritually and biblically we do not have so much of a say in this as we commonly think! One flock? — hmmmmm!

Farm Share Food Distribution begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20, near the church’s pavilion. As cars enter the parking area from West Pennsylvania Avenue, volunteers will guide them to the distribution. Each box provides a week’s worth of food for a four-person family and contains both fresh and preserved food. The event will continue until supplies run out.

Important to the church’s journey stands the prayer ministry throughout all groups, classes, meetings and celebrations. First Pres says, “We invite you to learn about our church family, find a place that fits you, and join us soon!”

‘We Begin Again in Love’

The congregation of Mosaic Unitarian Universalist meets online at 11 a.m. every Sunday. The April 21 service is titled “We Begin Again in Love.”

The discussion about voting to make changes or amendments to Article II of the UUA bylaws at the upcoming General Assembly is an issue that has garnered a lot of discussion and controversy among UU congregations. But just what is the issue and — more importantly — what is at stake?

Join the Rev. Matthew Pargeter-Villarreal for a discussion about Article II and the history behind it, and just what it means for our future. Jan Holloway will be the service leader.
