Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one church at YES Cinema on the first and third Sundays of the month. It’s a place of belonging where members learn, grow, experience community, and pray together.

Our house churches meet in neighborhoods on the second and fourth Sundays for worship through conversational study and community building. The congregation focuses on care and connection, prayer, and sending one another out.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. Kids’ church is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. Central Heights Church of God — The church offers 9:30 a.m. Sunday School for all ages and worship services at 10:30 a.m. The message will be led by Pastor Jason Johnson. Children’s church takes place during service and a nursery is available.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Sunday morning worship service begins at 9 a.m. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school begins at 10:10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

Fairlawn Presbyterian Church — The church has in-person and Zoom services at 9:30 a.m. To join on Zoom, email the church office at [email protected] to request a Zoom link.

Fellowship and coffee hour is every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Contact the church for the Zoom link.

Women’s Bible study is the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week.

Preschool classes continue throughout the school year and the congregation offers an afterschool program each school day from 3 to 6 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Baptist Church — Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, with both a nursery and children’s programming available. The church also has several Sunday school offerings and different Bible study groups that meet throughout the week. The current Bible study series is being led by Pastor Evan Guse, titled “When God’s Heart Moves: Stories of Compassion.” Women’s Bible study is Thursdays at 9 a.m. in the chapel and men’s Bible study is Fridays at 7 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

First Presbyterian Church — The church will celebrate the sacrament of communion on May 5, and the theme of the day will be all about bread, because the day’s passage is John 6:35-40, and Pastor Felipe Martinez’s sermon will be titled “I Am the Bread of Life.” The sanctuary choir will lead worship.

People in the community in need of a meal are invited to hot meals offered at 5 p.m. Friday (please enter through the glass doors on Franklin Street). The church is an LGBTQ-friendly church, open and affirming to all.

First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, May 5, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Three Words We Long to Hear.” The Scriptures will be John 15:9-17. The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Child care will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service. Sunday school for children ages 4-12 will start at 9 a.m.

For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page and the church YouTube channel (FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.

After service on Sunday, Carolyn Marshall from the Lucille Raines Home will share information about the good work this important ministry of the United Methodist Church is doing. Located in downtown Indianapolis, the Lucille Raines home has adapted its ministries with the changing needs and now serves those who are recovering from addiction, providing housing, counseling and support. The church will also be taking a special offering to support this ministry.

Mark your calendars for the church garden group’s hosta plant sale on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot east of the church building. All proceeds benefit the FUMC mission fund.

The Interfaith Peace Camp will return from June 10 to 14. Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. indoors and outdoors at UUCCI (7850 E. Goeller Road, Columbus). Volunteers make this week of sharing talent, time, and having fun together possible. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator at UUCCI, Adrienne Summerlot, will oversee day-to-day Peace Camp as well as training and oversight of volunteers. Garden City Christian Church — Sunday school classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. Join the church for a blended worship service with lead pastor Brian Gilroy on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Troop IN-0110 meets twice monthly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. during the school year.

Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. service every Sunday. The church preaches out of the King James Bible and sings out of hymn books. The church is Bible-based, Christ-centered, and spirit-led.

Petersville United Methodist Church — Pastor Rebecca Milne will present her sermon, “Liberated,” taken from the series “Resurrection Stories” at the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Scriptures will be from John 15:9-17.

Kathy Bush will serve as song and worship leader. Teresa Covert will share the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship will follow the service. The service will be available to view on Facebook throughout the week.

Anyone in the community is invited to enjoy a meal and a time of sharing at “The Table” at the church every second Thursday at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. There is no charge for the meal, and the next gathering will take place on May 9.

The United Methodist men will meet at the church at 7:15 a.m. Sunday; currently, they are using the book written by Tony Dungy, “Uncommon Life.”.

A newly formed knitting group will meet each Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the home of Connie Nolting. For additional information, phone 812-343-1092.

The Administrative Council will meet at 3:30 p.m. on May 7. Mother’s Day will be celebrated on May 12. United Women of Faith will meet again at 3:30 p.m. on May 16 at 3:30 p.m.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. This Sunday, service starts at 11 a.m. Pastor Paul Dazet will bring a message titled “Liberated” as part of the new sermon series, “Resurrection Stories.”

Sunday school is offered for all ages from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The nursery is available from 9:30 a.m. until after service. Online services can be found on the church Facebook page or YouTube channel.

Join the church for pastor-led Bible study focusing on the book of Galatians, held on Wednesdays at noon through May 29. This six-week series is an invitation to dive into the rich teachings of Galatians, exploring themes of freedom, grace, and living by the Spirit. It’s a chance to reflect, discuss and deepen your faith in a supportive and engaging environment. No books needed, just bring a Bible.

On Wednesdays through the end of July, join the church for a short time of praise and prayer, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot, followed by pickleball. This will be facilitated by Dale and Linda Guse.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23, everyone is invited for a Restore Columbus Healing Service. This event is in partnership with Petersville UMC, and the Galileans Church aimed at fostering holistic healing and community well-being. Restore Columbus will not be just a service but a sanctuary embracing everyone seeking peace, healing and spiritual growth.

St. Paul Lutheran Church — Pastor Doug Bauman will present the message “Faith that Overcomes” based on 1 John 5:1-8 Sunday at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services.

Christian fellowship begins at 9:10 a.m. with Christian education classes beginning at 9:30 a.m. At the beginning of the Christian education hour, new members who have joined the congregation since January will be recognized. Pastor Bauman will lead a discussion “Two Kingdom Living” in the fellowship room. Taylor Fickenscher will lead “A Study of Hymns” in the conference room. Senior youth will study “Life’s Big Questions, God’s Big Answers” led by Dave and Jen Probst. The Spanish worship service will be led by Pastor Dan Fickenscher in the fellowship room at 10:45 a.m.

Matins prayer service is offered each Wednesday in the church at 10:15 a.m.

Radio worship service is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., and “The Lutheran Hour” is every Sunday at 7 p.m., both on WYGS 91.1 FM.

Last class of the season for Moms in the Word meets Monday in the nursery at 10 a.m. for fellowship, snacks and a children’s devotion.

Wednesday adult Bible classes meet in the fellowship room at 9 a.m. studying the Book of Acts and at 6 p.m. studying the Book of Jude. Childcare is provided for the evening class.

Euchre tournament and family game night will be held Friday in the fellowship room beginning at 6 p.m. for a free-will offering benefiting the in-gathering at the District LWML June convention.

All women are invited to attend a flower arranging event on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. in the fellowship room, which includes a light brunch and devotion. RSVP to [email protected] by Sunday.

Vacation Bible School, “Shelter in the Savior” will be Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the church for ages 3 through sixth grade. Register at stpaulcolumbus.org/vbs2024.
