Masik Shivratri 2024: Masik Shivratri is considered an auspicious day, which is dedicated to worship Lord Shiva. Each month there is only one Shivratri celebration and devotees observe fast on thi auspicious day to seek blessings of Lord Shiva. Masik Shivratri falls on Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. This month Masik Shivratri will be celebrated on May 6, 2024.

Masik Shivratri 2024: Significance
Masik Shivratri holds a great religious significance in Hindu religion. There are total 12 Masik Shivratri occurs in a year and once in a month. Shivratri, which falls in the month of Phalguna that is known to be one of the biggest Shivartri in a year and popularly called as Maha Shivratri festival. Shivratri means the night which is dedicated to woprship Lord Shiva and the people, who offer prayers to Mahadeva who is known to be the Jagatpita, the father of all, gets blessed with the happiness, prosperity and desired wish fulfillment.

On the day of Shivratri, people observe fast from dawn till midnight and they can perform puja during the puja time according to the Panchang. They can break their fast by having fruits and dry fruits and milk products. One must avoid having tamasik food included onion, garlic, eggs, and meat or non vegetarian food.
Devotees must spend their night performing vigil, bhajan and kirtan. They can also recite any holy scripture, such as Shiva Chalisa, Shiv Puran and Ramayana. People can also spend the night chanting Panchakshari Mantra, and Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra.
Masik Shivratri 2024: Puja Vidhi
1. Wake up early in the morning and take bath before starting puja rituals.
2. Take a wooden plank where you can place Shiva linga or an idol of Shiva Parivaar.
3. Must perform abhishekam with water, and panchamrit, which includes milk, curd, honey, sugar powder or boora, and ghee.
4. Those, who are able to visit temple are advised to visit the Shiva temple and perform abhishekam there on shiva lingam.
5. Then light a diya with desi ghee and offer, sweets, fruits and panchmeva and then chant various shiva mantras.
6. This day is considered an auspicious day to perform meditation and yoga.
7. One must perform puja during the puja time mentioned in Panchang.
