Masik Karthigai holds a great religious significance among Tamil community people. They observe fast on this auspicious day and dedicated this day to worship Lord Kartikeya. Devotees visit various temples dedicated to Bhagwan Kartikey to show their gratitude to the Lord. In the evening also, they light up their home and streets with diyas and pray for the well being and good fortune. Though, the biggest Karthigaiu Deepan is celebrated in the month of Kartik but Masik Kartigai also holds a special significance.
Masik Kartigai 2024: Rituals
Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. People light a diya in front of the lord and prepare various sweet dishes to offer to Lord Kartikeya. They make rangolis outside their home. Devotees then visit the temples which is dedicated to Bhagwan Kartikeya and offer flowers, coconut, sweets, and deepam. They seek blessings of the Lord and show their gratitude. They also seek forgiveness for their mistakes which they might have committed knowingly or unknowingly. Then, in the evening time they ligth the diyas with mustard oil and keep it facing east direction. Direction and timings are most important things.
