Thrift shop

Springfield – The thrift shop at St. Gregory Armenian Church, 135 Goodwin St., in the Indian Orchard section, is open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, go online to saintgregoryarmenianchurch.org.

Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open on Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with items for sale at bargain prices.

Easter bake, soup sale

Haydenville – Haydenville Congregational Church is hosting its annual Easter Soup and Bake sale. Hot cross buns, pies and containers of soup will be among the foods on sale Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Frozen homemade soups will be sold in pint and quart containers. The church is located at 143 Main St. Parking in the rear.

Holy week services

South Deerfield – Holy Name of Jesus, 15 Thayer St., Holy week services are as follows, Saturday, March 30, Holy Saturday, 9 a.m. service with the Blessing of the New Fire, the Readings of the Four Prophecies and the Blessing of water. Following this service, Easter food will be blessed in church as well at 4 p.m. On Easter Sunday, March 31, 9 a.m., Sunrise Service. Holy Mass of the Eucharist with the Procession of the three symbols of Easter: The Paschal candle, the Glorified Cross of Jesus and the Statue of the Resurrected Lord.

Holy week

Holyoke – United Congregational Church of Holyoke announces Easter events and services. The Easter Egg Hunt “Eggstravaganza,” will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be scavenger hunts, crafts, games, pictures with the Easter Bunny and fun for the whole family. There is no charge.

Easter Sunday, March 31, will be a special Worship Service beginning at 10 a.m. The service will feature a message of hope, songs of Christ’s resurrection, and will conclude with the sacrament of communion. All Are Welcome to attend.

Holy week

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church Holy week services conclude on Easter Sunday, March 31 at the 10 a.m. service. Fellowship hours with baked and packaged snacks, coffee, tea, juice and water are always held in the church hall following services. The church is located at 745 Main St.

Easter Sunday services

Springfield – Foster Memorial Church, UCC will hold two worship services on Easter Sunday, March 31. The 8 a.m. service will include the construction of the “Flowering Cross.” The 10 a.m. service will include special music by the choir and a surprise as they “unpack our Alleluias” for this holy day. The church is located at 1791 Wilbraham Road in the Sixteen Acres section.

Church events

Springfield – South Congregational Church, an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in downtown Springfield, invites everyone to its regular worship services, Sundays at 10 a.m. in person at 45 Maple Street in Springfield or on Zoom. You will experience their warm welcome, fine music program, and engaging coffee hour immediately following worship. Childcare is also available. Other programs include regular knitting and quilting circles as well as an upcoming Lenten Book Group. Rev. Hugh Crean Lecture

Chicopee – College of Our lady of the Elms and the St. Augustine Center for Ethics, Religion, and Culture will present the 5th annual rev. Hugh Crean Distinguished Lecture in Catholic Thought on Thursday, April 4 at 4:30 p.m. The lecture will take place in-person in the college’s alumnae Library Theater. The Distinguished Speaker for this lecture is Dominic Doyle, Ph.D., associate professor of Systematic Theology at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (STM). Antique appraisal

Agawam – Feeding Hills Congregational Church, 21 North Westfield St., in the Feeding Hills section is hosting an antique appraisal on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 an item or 3 for $12 with a three-item limit. All appraisals are verbal to give the owner an idea of value and a sense of history. Items should be small enough to be hand carried. No firearms or weapons of any kind. Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam upcoming events

Agawam – Members of The Catholic Women’s Club will enjoy a potluck supper at their April 8 meeting. It will start at 6:30 p.m. in the St. John the Evangelist parish center at 833 Main St. Members will be contacted by phone or e-mail to select a dish to bring. After the dinner the club’s monthly business meeting will take place. The speaker for the evening will be Maryann Dietschler on her group Wreaths With A Reason, which supports organizations that fight human trafficking. Any Catholic woman residing in Agawam or Feeding Hills or is a member of either of the town’s two Catholic parishes can join the members for this event by phoning or e-mailing Paula at 413-537-1174 or praiche@comcast.net by April 1.

Members of The Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam will present “A Night Of Fashion,” at the St. John the Evangelist Parish Center on Thursday, April 18, located at 833 Main St. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m., and models will wear fashions from Chico’s and J.Jill. Fruit, cheese, crackers and refreshments will be served. Door prizes and a raffle will take place. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by contacting Paula at 413-537-1174 or praiche@comcast.net. Tables of 8 or 10 can be reserved. Proceeds will benefit the club’s annual scholarship.

Bus trip

Springfield – St. Catherine of Sienna, 1023 Parker St., presents a bus trip to see the Woosox play Rochester on Sunday, June 9 at 1:05 p.m. The bus leaves the church’s parking lot at 11 a.m. Reserved covered seating behind third base. Sunday services

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., invites the community to Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday of every month communion is served with bread and grape juice or with individually packaged wafer and grape juice. Following all Sunday services, there is a Friendship gathering in the church hall. Coffee, tea, and water are served along with various goodies and packaged treats. Juice is, also, available, especially, for children in attendance. Children can, also, visit the “Mural Room” where many animals are painted floor to ceiling on an entire wall. The church is handicapped accessible with a large parking lot. If anyone may need a ride or assistance, contact the church at 413-786-7111 or email office@agawamcong.com.

Additional adoration times

Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. will offer weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays between noon and 5:30 p.m. The Holy Mass takes place at 6 p.m. Lawn signs are available for Agawam residents announcing the Year of the Eucharist. Free weekly Veterans lunch

Holyoke – Community Roots Neighborhood Services offers a free hot lunch for Veterans and their adult immediate family (Parents or spouse). The lunches are every Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Questions? Email Gina Nelson at crnsholyoke@gmail.com.

Eastampton Veterans’ lunch

Easthampton – The Easthampton Coalition for Veteran wellness invites area veterans to a complimentary meal every first Wednesday of the month at noon at Easthampton Congregational Church. Attendees are encouraged to park behind the church’s Main Street entrance at 112 Main St. The Easthampton Veteran Coalition also seeks volunteers and sponsors. Sponsorship opportunities help the Coalition with covering the expenses of monthly meals, which cost about $250 each month. The Coalition highlights sponsors at each monthly gathering and recognizes their generosity to the Easthampton veteran community. Volunteers needed include cooks, servers and general help with set-up and cleanup. To inquire about sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, contact Emma Reilly at 413-527-1212.
