Thrift shop

Springfield – The thrift shop at St. Gregory Armenian Church, 135 Goodwin St., in the Indian Orchard section, is open Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, go online to saintgregoryarmenianchurch.org.

Church events

Sunderland – First Congregational Church of Sunderland, 91 S. Main St., Serendipity Shop is open on Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with items for sale at bargain prices.

Fill a bag tag sale

Chicopee – Holy Mother of the Rosary Church will hold a fill a bag tag sale on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rain or shine, it will be held in the hall at 26 Bell St., across from the Chicopee Public Library. There will be jewelry, clothing, shoes, dishes, glassware, books, CD’s toys, tools, household items and more.

Psychic fair/medium’s day and bake sale

Chicopee – Healing Hands of Light Spiritualist Church, 465 Granby Road will host a psychic fair/medium’s day and bake sale on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 15-minute private readings is $20. Many baked goods for sale while awaiting your reading. For information or advance bookings call Denise at 413-519-9669. Walk-ins always welcome on a first come, first served basis.

Health kits and school packs

Agawam – Feeding Hills Congregational Church is working together to assemble health kits and school packs for Church World Service. CWS was created in 1966 as a hands-on opportunity for congregations, service groups, businesses, and others to come together and love their neighbors in a tangible way. CWS kits are bags of supplies to be shared with neighbors in need. Feeding Hills Congregational Church has been designated as an official Drop-Off Location for other groups. Drop-off dates are as follows: April 27, 9 a.m. to noon and May 3, 5 to 7 p.m. The church is located at 21 North Westfield St., in the Feeding Hills section.

Organist and silent film event

Holyoke – Organist Peter Krasinski brings his talents back to the United Congregational Church of Holyoke to accompany the silent film, “The Thief of Baghdad” on Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the screening is a suggested donation of $15, or $5 for students. The concert is co-sponsored by the Springfield Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The church is located at the corner of Appleton and Maple Streets.

Easter season mission

Holyoke – On Sunday, April 28 and Monday, April 29, Our Lady of the Cross Parish will be having an Easter Season Mission entitled “Igniting the Light of Christ Within You.” The Mission begins at 6:30 p.m. on both evenings and will be given by Paul Koleske. Paul is a contemporary Catholic inspirational speaker, composer and recording artist from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Paul has shared his ministry in all 50 states and has appeared on EWTN. All are welcome and the Mission is free. The church is located at 1140 Dwight St.

Taize music

Monson – Under the direction of Kiel Krommer, Director of Music Ministry, First Church of Monson will hold a service of Taize Music on Sunday, April 28 at 7 p.m. This ecumenical service of music and meditation is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the service. The church is located at 5 High St.

Relics of St. Padre Pio

Chicopee – On Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, the Basilica of St. Stanislaus will host five relics of St. Padre Pio for public veneration (Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) The first-and-second class relics are as follows: crusts of Saint Pio’s wounds, a white fingerless glove with Saint Pio’s blood stains, a lock of Saint Pio’s hair, a handkerchief with Saint Pio’s perspiration, and a piece of the saint’s habit. To see photos of the relics, visit www.saintpiofoundation.org/relics-tour.media. The relics are brought to the Basilica courtesy of the St. Pio Foundation, Tuckahoe, NY. All are welcome to attend. The parish is located at 566 Front St.

Baby shower donation drive

Granby – The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St., will be collecting baby items to be donated to the Bethlehem House in Easthampton. Items needed are: diapers (sizes 1, 4 and 5); boy and girl onesies (0-3 months); any girl clothing (0-3 and 3-6 months); sleepers (up to 18 months); Dove soap (unscented), baby washcloths, baby wipes (unscented) and gift cards (Costco, Dollar Tree and Dollar General). Baby item donations will be collected on Saturdays, May 4 and May 11 from noon to 3 p.m. at the IHM Rectory Carport.

Frozen Polish food sale

Springfield – Immaculate Conception Parish, 25 Parker St., in the Indian Orchard section will hold a frozen Polish food sale (golabki, kapusta, pierogi (cabbage, potato & cheese, sweet cheese, blueberry), will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parish hall.

Catholic Women’s Club Banquet

Agawam – The annual banquet of the Catholic Women’s Club of Agawam will take place at Casa Di Lisa, 801 Springfield St., in the Feeding Hills section on Tuesday, May 14. The evening will begin with appetizers from 6 to 6:45 p.m., consisting of bruschetta, fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers. At 7 p.m., the buffet of grilled park chops with applesauce, chicken francese, baked cod, vegetables, roasted potatoes, green beans almondine, salad and bread will be served. Coffee, tea, and soda will be served, and dessert will be mini cannoli’s and petit fours. A cash bar will be available. Cost is $35 and includes tax and tip. Checks made out to CWC or cash must be sent to Katie Heald, chairperson of the event, at 66 Beekman Drive, Agawam, MA 01001 or left in her mailbox by May 6. No refunds after this date as the count is due May 7. Write with whom you wish to sit. There is one table of 8 ladies available and the rest are tables of 6. Any larger tables will be placed close to each other. For questions, or more information call Katie at 413-786-1287. The club’s monthly and annual meetings will follow the dinner. Any Catholic Woman residing in Agawam/Feeding Hills or member of either of the towns Catholic Parishes are welcome to attend this even.

Church events

Springfield – South Congregational Church, an open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in downtown Springfield, invites everyone to its regular worship services, Sundays at 10 a.m. in person at 45 Maple Street in Springfield or on Zoom. On Sunday, May 5, the church will hold a free concert featuring arrangements and originals by Muse 3.1 on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. Free-will offering accepted.

You will experience their warm welcome, fine music program, and engaging coffee hour immediately following worship. Childcare is also available. Join the Bible Study group on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. on Zoom (use the Zoom worship link) — whether you are new to bible study or have a lifetime of experience, you are welcome. Other programs include regular knitting and quilting circles as well as an upcoming Lenten Book Group. In addition to church services and events, South is particularly engaged in the downtown community, and many public programs are offered in their spaces. Bus trip

Springfield – St. Catherine of Siena, 1023 Parker St., presents a bus trip to see the Woosox play Rochester on Sunday, June 9 at 1:05 p.m. The bus leaves the church’s parking lot at 11 a.m. Reserved covered seating behind third base. Cost includes bus/driver’s gratuity, $2 credit on food.

The church presents a trip to Bushnell Theater to see “Funny Girl,” on Sunday, June 23, 1 p.m. The bus leaves the church’s parking lot at 11:30 a.m. Show, bus and all gratuities including family style dinner at Sorella’s included with price. Sunday services

Agawam – Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., invites the community to Sunday morning services at 10 a.m. On the first Sunday of every month communion is served with bread and grape juice or with individually packaged wafer and grape juice. Following all Sunday services, there is a Friendship gathering in the church hall. Coffee, tea, and water are served along with various goodies and packaged treats. Juice is, also, available, especially, for children in attendance. Children can, also, visit the “Mural Room” where many animals are painted floor to ceiling on an entire wall. The church is handicapped accessible with a large parking lot. If anyone may need a ride or assistance, contact the church at 413-786-7111 or email office@agawamcong.com.

Additional adoration times

Agawam – St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St. will offer weekly adoration ceremonies on Wednesdays between noon and 5:30 p.m. The Holy Mass takes place at 6 p.m. Lawn signs are available for Agawam residents announcing the Year of the Eucharist. Contact the parish office to obtain one, 413-786-8105, ext. 101.

Free weekly Veterans lunch

Holyoke – Community Roots Neighborhood Services offers a free hot lunch for Veterans and their adult immediate family (Parents or spouse). The lunches are every Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St. Questions? Email Gina Nelson at crnsholyoke@gmail.com.

Easthampton Veterans’ lunch

Easthampton – The Easthampton Coalition for Veteran Wellness invites area veterans to a complimentary meal every first Wednesday of the month at noon at Easthampton Congregational Church. Attendees are encouraged to park behind the church’s Main Street entrance at 112 Main St. The initiative was started to bring veterans together to celebrate their service and to meet fellow veterans and members of their community in a spirit of camaraderie. In partnership with the Building Bridges Veterans Initiative, the meals are complimentary to any military veteran and a guest. The Easthampton Veteran Coalition also seeks volunteers and sponsors.
