Each Ekadashi holds a special significance and it has different story. This time, it will be Varuthini Ekadashi, which is going to occur on May 4, 2024 during Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakha.

Varuthini Ekadashi 2024: Significance
According to Hindu Scriptures, Ekadashi holds a great religious significance among Hindus. Varuthini Ekadashi falls in the month of Vaishakha as per Purnimanta calendar and according to Amavasyant calendar, it falls in the month of Chaitra, which is considered in South India. Devotees observe strict fast on this auspicious day of Ekadashi and dedicate this day to worship Lord Vishnu. They perform puja and various religious activities. Some devotees even get involved in spiritual activities such as dhyan yoga and meditation and keep maun vrat for a day to keep their mind calm and relax. This Ekadashi is also popularly known as Baruthani Ekadashi. On this day, people offer prayers to Vamana Avtar of Lord Vishnu and it is believed that by observing fast on this Ekadashi, people get protected from any type of evil energy and negativity.
Varuthini Ekadashi 2024: Story
According to the Hindi Scriptures, it is believed that one day Lord Shiva became angry from Lord Brahma and removed his fifth head. Lord Brahma cursed Lord Shiva and in terms to get free from this curse Lord Vishnu suggested him to observe Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat. He did exactly the same as suggested by Lord Vishnu and got free from this curse so it is believed that anyone, who thinks they are suffering from any type of curse related to current birth or past birth or they think they have done something wrong to someone knowingly or unknowingly, they must keep fast on this Ekadashi with devotion and seek forgiveness from Lord Vishnu to get relieved from the curse. It is also believed that the devotees who observe fast on this day with great dedication, Lord Vishnu bestow them with the fruits, which they get from strict penance.
Varuthini Ekadashi 2024: Puja Rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and first take bath. They must clean the home and especially puja room where they want to worship. Take an idol of Lord Vishnu, Laddoo Gopal if they have and idol of Lord Krishna. Give them a bath and place them on a wooden plank. Adorn them with flowers, clothes. Light a diya and put tilak on their forehead. Keep fruits, Tulsi Patra, or whatever you have prepared for the puja such as panchamrit and home made sweets. Recite Vishnu Sahasranama and chant various mantras to seek blessings of Lord Vishnu. The fast is broken on the next day during parana time. Those who are unable to observe strict fast, they can eat sattvik food hich includes, fruits, milk products, fried potato with curd. They are advised to use rock salt instead normal salt.
